Whole Again

(Taken from The One Minute Collection by Hope Lyda)

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (Psalm 51:10-12)

My joy is complete in You, Lord. The holes in my spirit created by doubt or pain are filled, and I am renewed as a believer, as a child of God. My spirit soars in Your presence. As I pray to You, my life is resurrected and my spirit is willing and able to keep following You and Your ways.

Your grace cleanses me from my past mistakes, my times of weakness or trouble, and You have made me new again. When I am reluctant to recognize this because I want to do things my way or take credit for my state of grace, I am reminded that You are the faithful healer of all things past, present, and future. I am merely the vessel in need of Your healing. I pray to see myself whole and renewed, and I acknowledge Your salvation and mercy.

Professional Church Workers’ Conference

Several administrators have begun working on their 2014-15 School year calendars and have inquired about the Professional Church Workers’ Conference.  It is scheduled for November 11-14, 2014, and will follow a similar schedule to previous conferences with pastors attending Tuesday to Thursday and educators attending Wednesday to Friday.  Registration for educators is from 3 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

2014 LEA National Administrators’ Conference

Please mark these dates on your calendar:  February 13-15, 2014.  The LEA Administrators’ Conference will be held in St. Louis.  Missouri District Administrators and Directors will have $100 of the registration fee paid by the Missouri District.  This LEA Conference will serve as the Missouri District Mid-year Administrators’ Conference.

Strengthening Schools and Congregations (SSAC)

The Department of School Ministry has a program called SSAC (Strengthening Schools and Congregations) that specializes in assisting congregations in diagnosing their problems, and making recommendations that could help alleviate the problems.  SSAC also assist schools that are looking to clarify their vision and develop plans for the future.  SSAC is not all inclusive like NLSA, but rather the consultants direct their attention to two or three issues and make follow-up visits to guide the implementation of recommendations.  School applications are now being accepted for the Winter/Spring quarters of 2013-2014.  The number of schools served is limited to the funding available.  You can get an application form from the Missouri District Office.

Full Throttle Engagement

Do you feel like you’re being stretched in too many directions…like you’re losing energy and focus? Then this workshop is for you. Full Throttle Engagement will look at ways to keep God at the center of your life, to be fully present at home, and productive at work. Together key points will be explored:

Discovering the connection between rest and resilience

How simple movement affects much more than fitness, including mental and emotional health

Effectiveness is not about time management, but energy management

      Increasing renewed sources of energy

      Sustaining new, positive habits

Increasing creativity and problem solving ability

Concordia Publishing House

The Concordia Self-Study Bible (CSSB) is permanently going out of print and will no longer be available from Concordia Publishing House (CPH) after current inventory is sold. Thankfully CPH offers a great alternative to the CSSB. The Lutheran Study Bible (TLSB) has been well-received and printed with the ESV translation. Visit to view all Bible additions.

National Lutheran Schools Week

Over the next three years, National Lutheran Schools Week will focus on the three-fold emphasis of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Witness, Mercy, Life Together— these three phrases illustrate how the church lives and works together to proclaim the Gospel and to provide for our brothers and sisters in Christ in our congregations, communities and throughout the world. In all we do, Christ is at the center, leading us, sustaining us, keeping us focused.

January 26 – February 1, 2014
Witness Always
"For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water
and the blood; and these three agree.” 1 John 5:7-8 (ESV)

January 25 – January 31, 2015
Mercy Forever
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 (ESV)

January 24 – January 30, 2016
Life Together
"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship
of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9 (ESV)
